Designing and manufacturing custom ottomans highlights workroom creativity while increasing profitable add-on sales. In this two day program, students complete their own semi-attached pillow top ottoman on a pre-built frame and learn professional techniques for upholstery that can be applied to upholstered benches, bar stools, boxed dining room chairs, and other seating. In addition, students will build and upholster a round ottoman with a tailored skirt, mastering the construction and upholstery steps while using basic materials such as, bendable plywood, Skirtex™, foam and batting. Students learn how to use a jig saw, electric foam cutter, pneumatic stapler and a button press. In addition, the instructor shares years of workroom experience providing sources and uses of various types of foam and fabric, tips for pattern placement and techniques for yardage estimating. Students leave with the confidence to design and build nearly any style ottoman.
