UP101-Professional Upholstery I

6 Day Program

This intensive course provides comprehensive training in the area of furniture upholstery. Students learn professional techniques and practices to establish an upholstery business or add the service to an existing workroom. The instructor shares trade secrets, tool and supply resources, and provides the support and motivation to build confidence. Hands-on activities progress at the pace of the individual student as each is challenged to complete a small wing chair from start to finish, beginning with the basic wooden frame. Extensive training is provided in the areas of spring tying, webbing, padding, fabric selection, pattern placement, cut plans, cushion fabrication and skirt construction. Machine and hand sewing is required, but no previous experience with industrial equipment is necessary. All materials and supplies are included. Students keep (or ship home) the completed wing chair project as a sample for showroom display.
